Need Help With an Existing OrthoPets Device? ExoPets Can Help.

OrthoPets Is No Longer Operating—But Your Patient's Device Doesn't Have to Become Obsolete

When OrthoPets closed its doors, many veterinary teams and pet owners were left with important questions.

  • Who can adjust an existing device?
  • What happens if a strap breaks?
  • Can a brace be refurbished?
  • Who can provide clinical guidance now?
  • Does the entire device have to be replaced?

The good news is that in many cases, the answer is no.

At ExoPets, we continue supporting veterinary orthotic and prosthetic patients through refurbishment, repairs, replacement components, and ongoing clinical management.

Existing Devices Can Often Be Refurbished

Many custom veterinary braces and prostheses are built on durable structural components.

Depending on the condition of the device, it may be possible to:

  • Replace straps and padding
  • Replace worn liners
  • Replace tread
  • Replace hardware
  • Repair or replace joints
  • Address fit changes through modifications
  • Restore cosmetic appearance
  • Extend the functional life of the device

Not every device is repairable, but many can be returned to excellent working condition at a fraction of the cost of a completely new device.

Clinical Oversight Matters

A brace is more than carbon fiber, plastic, and hardware.

Successful veterinary orthotics depend on:

  • patient selection
  • biomechanics
  • alignment
  • pressure distribution
  • gait evaluation
  • follow-up adjustments

Without appropriate clinical oversight, even a beautifully fabricated device may fail to achieve its intended goals.

At ExoPets, every refurbishment and new custom device is clinically reviewed to determine whether repair is appropriate or whether a new device would provide a better long-term outcome.

Need a New Device Instead?

If refurbishment isn't the best option, ExoPets can also provide entirely new custom veterinary orthotic and prosthetic devices.

Our clinical process includes:

  • case consultation
  • candidacy review
  • device recommendation
  • design oversight
  • fitting guidance
  • follow-up support

The goal is not simply to manufacture a device—but to help veterinary teams achieve the best possible functional outcome.

Devices Overseen by the Original Founder of Veterinary Animal Orthotics

ExoPets also works closely with Dr. Martin Kaufmann, widely recognized as the original founder of OrthoPets and a pioneer in veterinary orthotics and prosthetics.

Dr. Kaufmann serves as ExoPets' Clinical Advisor for Fabrication & Complex Case Consultation, providing guidance on complex cases and fabrication when needed.

Combined with oversight from a licensed clinical prosthetist/orthotist, this allows veterinary teams to continue accessing decades of combined experience in veterinary mobility care.

We're Here to Help

Whether your patient has:

  • an older OrthoPets brace
  • a prosthesis needing refurbishment
  • worn straps or hardware
  • a device that no longer fits properly
  • or simply needs expert guidance...

ExoPets can help determine the best path forward.

Sometimes that's a repair.

Sometimes it's a refurbishment.

Sometimes it's a new custom device.

Either way, our goal is the same:

Helping veterinary teams keep patients comfortable, functional, and moving.
